Internationl War on Duckfaces
WORK – IMPACT ART PROJECTS – INTERNATIONAL WAR ON DUCKFACES
International War on Duckfaces is a response to how we portray ourselves on social media. Are we genuinely revealing our true selves, or are we projecting an image we believe others desire to see? Can we still stay authentic to ourselves? What’s inherently wrong with imperfection?
This project is a natural extension of ‘Move me,’ differing in that Van Peppen isn’t operating from her studio but from a mobile photo booth, live at festivals. A brief conversation and a swift portrait ensue; an exhibition unfolds during such festivals. With the intention of perpetuating the discourse on the absurdity of projecting an artificially perfect life online, participants receive a print of their portrait directly.
