Nocturnal Awakening
WORK – FINE ARTS – NOCTURNAL AWAKENING
I tend to work late.
When the world quiets down, my studio begins to breathe — with music playing, a glass of wine in hand, and the presence of my works around me.
Henri, the model in this work, has been with me often. In many forms, at many hours.
He doesn’t haunt the room — he holds it.
When I came across this photograph of him again, I felt a pull. Not to explain, but to respond.
To make something that echoed the shifting light and moods of my nocturnal hours.
Something that would stay with me — and watch over me.
Nocturnal Awakening is a triptych. Three panels, like doors that open into the night — and sometimes, if you dare to stay long enough, lead you back. The image changes with the light.
Sometimes soft, sometimes impenetrable.
It’s not a fixed portrait. It’s a presence.
A conversation between shadow and self.
